Bio - Mark Eisenman has performed with numerous (many more than mentioned here) eminent Canadian and U.S. jazz artists including the following: Lew Tabackin, Barney Kessell, Ed Bickert, Rob McConnell, and Pat LaBarbera. He is well represented on recordings. The latest is "Apparition", which features all original compositions by Mark performed by his Quintet. A top call vocal accompanist and long time jazz educator at York University you'll find him in any situation where taste, feel, and a jazz sensibility is important. "His professional status is based largely on his skill and versatility as an ensemble player, but what marks him most is an ability to produce, no matter what the musical company, distinctive well-structured solos"- (Toronto Star). Mark Eisenman has been teaching for 25 years at York University's jazz program. He has also taught at IMC Jazz Camp, and the Mohawk College Jazz Program. He has coached hundreds of singers and taught many students privately at his home studio as well. His method is geared to building on what the student already knows, and stresses the rhythmic qualities and skills that are needed to be a convincing jazz player. This includes jazz history, and repertoire.
